Future perfect
Despite the dismal conditions in Manhattan on Tuesday evening, which threw major wrenches into schedules and had many bloggers bitching, Spanish designer Toni Francesc pulled off one of the most original, creative and captivating collections of the week with Artificial Life, a multi-media production of his Fall 2010 collection.
Futuristic while avoiding costumey clichés, and incorporating leather without a hint of tough-biker tackiness, Artificial Life as a collection was a glorious celebration of construction and form and included many pieces one would expect to see in high end boutiques across the country.
As a production, Artificial Life was equally entertaining with its sly nod to Ridley Scott's cinematic classic Blade Runner through Replicant reminiscent models in matching stacked bobs that floated down the runway with emotionless expressions and inhuman grace.
