Carlos Miele Fall 2011: decade of decadance

Grace Jones, Studio 54, the years before the word "recession" was in the popular vernacular, these images sprang to life on the runway at Carlos Miele's Fall 2011 collection during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.

image: S.Whittle for Style WyldeNever one to be swayed by the mass market appeal of frugality, and simplicity,  the designer presented look after luxurious look that incorporated fur, silk, and ornate textures in a sumptuous palette of tomato reds, cobalt blues and gold tinged greens.

The overall effect of the collection was undeniably intoxicating, like tossing back a few glasses of champagne mid week. Extravagant? Yes. But definitely needed every once in a while.
