Fashion week overview

On February 11th, hundreds of designers and a legion of writers, editors, bloggers and fashion fans will descend on NYC to preview the Fall collections.  Whether you have a front row seat, or you are a strictly online audience member Fall Fashion Week sets the tone for the year to come.

So what will this Fashion Week bring? We've compiled a run-down of the day to day schedule and what we hope to see.

Thursday, February 11th: Featuring Mackage  BCBG MAX AZRIA, Richard Chai, Duckie Brown,Toni Maticevski, Ports 1961, Anne Bowen, La Perla,  L.A.M.B. Erin Wasson+ RVCA, Vena Cava,  MIK CIRE by Eric Kim and  Farah Angsana.

One to watch for: Formerly of Marc by Marc Jacobs, Richard Chai rose to new levels of success in 2008 with the launch of his menswear line and a capsule collection for Target. This season we are looking to Chai to lead the way in fresh edgy American design.

Possible added bonus: After the Spring 2010 collections, Max Azria and Company shocked fans and department store buyers alike by making a few of their runway frocks available for purchase online immediately after their show.  Can we expect a replay of this new-media savvy move? Let's hope so!

Friday, February 12th: Featuring Cynthia SteffeYigal Azrouel, Michael Angel, Christian Siriano, Nicole Miller, Charlotte Ronson, Doo Ri , Gilded Age, Cynthia Rowley  Venexiana, and The Project Runway Show.

One to watch for: Always a favorite with the young hipster crowd, Charlotte Ronson has made a name for herself with a huge celebrity following, and a consistently 80's derivative look. This season we'd love to see the designer get out of that vintage inspired box and wow us with something fiercely fresh.

Possible added bonus: For spoiler-happy Project Runway fans, the web is bound to be ON FIRE late Friday night with iphone snapshots, youtube videos, and a host of  opinions on who's in and who's auf'd.

Saturday, February 13th: Featuring LA Coste, Georges Chakra, Andy & Debb, Prabal Gurung, Adam, Twinkle by Wenlan, Band of Outsiders Irina Shabayeva, Arise Magazine's African Collective and the Academy of Art University Show.

One to watch for: Last season, Prabal Gurung came out of Fashion Week a star, we can't wait to see what he has in store for 2010.

Possible Added Bonus: As the 'mean girl' winner of Project Runway, Irina Shabayeva, stages her first Fashion Week show, a myriad of reality tv stars are expected to attend, and drama is sure to unfold.

Sunday February 14th: Featuring Lela Rose, Luca Luca, Catherine Malandrino, DKNY,Rebecca Taylor, Calvin Klein, Hérvé Léger by Max Azria, ThakoonDiane Von Furstenberg,Tony CohenY-3, Custo Barcelona, and Vassilios Kostetsos.

One to watch for: With so many big names showing on Sunday, we are bound to be enthralled all day long, but we'll be paying special attention to Tony Cohen, who's short and girly dresses stole our hearts at the Spring show.

Possible added bonus: Expect divas in attendance at all of the day's shows, and tons of diva behavior showing up on the gossip sites late Sunday evening.

Monday February 15th: Featuring Zac Posen,Carolina Herrera, Carlos Miele, Jill Stuart,Tracey Reese, Donna Karan CollectionMonique L'Huiller, Yeohlee, Tadashi Shoji, Perry Ellis, and Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation

One to watch for: Is there any doubt? Zac Posen is sure to turn heads, and be the stand out even in this well-respected crowd.

Possible added bonus: Tadashi Shoji has been a favorite for Hollywood red carpet events for years, we are sure to see the gowns in his collection pop up on the red carpet next year.

Tuesday, February 16th: Featuring Elie Tahari, Badgley Mischka, Vera Wang, MIMKHO, Pamela Roland, Max Azria Signature, Dennis Basso, Diesel Black Gold,Thuy,Tibi, Narciso Rodriguez, and Toni Francesc.

One to watch for: Quirky and high-spirited we can't wait to see what Toni Francesc has to offer

Possible Added Bonus: Vera Wang's recent dishing to the Associate Press about designing skating-costumes may have left some Olympians feeling over-exposed, but we still expect former Wang clients Kerrigan, Kwan and Baul to attend the show.

Wednesday, February 17th: Featuring Tory Burch, Michael Kors, Nanette Lepore, 3.1. Phillip Lim, Milly by Michelle Smith, Reed Krakoff, Alexandre Herchcovitch,  Anna Sui , and Brian Reyes

One to watch for: Young, fun, and super accessible Milly flatters a myriad of styles.

Possible Added Bonus: Nina, Tim, and Heidi in the front row at Michael Kors, Make it work MK!

Thursday, February, 18th: Featuring Ralph Lauren, Isaac Mizrahi, Davidelfin, Calvin Klein,  Leifsdottir, J Mendel, Naeem Khan, and Tommy Hilfiger.

One to watch for: Vibrant, with an air of Russian Aristocrat, Liefsdottir's Fall 2009 collection had critics buzzing, and we have high hopes for Fall 2010.

Possible added bonus: They've survived the week, and  the war-weary fashion militia is bound to be on their last legs, stay glued to YouTube for all the silly out takes, slip ups and gaffs as another Fashion Week comes to a close.
