Christian rocks the house

An hour+ wait to get in, a boiling hot tent, and an obnoxious girl-blogger who insisted on standing on her seat to take photos semi-blocking the view for those behind; at any other show these things might be enough to sour a review,  but the moment the first look took to the runway it became clear to the over capacity crowd at  the Christian Siriano show that we were about to see something truly special.

A perfectly edited collection that ran the gamut between goth-girl swing dresses and glamour goddess gowns, yet was  somehow cohesive in a way no other show we've seen so far has been, the Christian Siriano Fall 2010 collection was a dark hearted dream in sumptuous blacks, navies, greys and browns with pops of fuscia; each look matched with wearable art shoes that are rumored to be for his Payless collection.

Almost every look struck that hard to find balance between edgy and wearable with one outlandish David-Bowie-esque dress with a beaded color that was fun, but not for the faint hearted.

At several points in the show, the celebrity studded audience broke into applause, but it was when the final look took the stage, a fuchsia gown with acres of tulle and exquisite tailoring, that the room erupted into appreciated cheers, clapping and a few whistles.
