Backstage beauty: Mara Hoffman Resort Swim 2013

Glowing, sun-kissed skin that called to mind "Outlaw desert gypsies" was the call of the day at the Mara Hoffman 2013 Resort Swim show. To get the look the label tapped none other than key make-up artist Lottie and runway go-to brand Make Up For Ever.

Here's how the look was created, first that gorgeous glowing skin:

To give the models that sun kissed glow, Lottie began with Make Up For Ever HD Invisible Cover Foundation. (We first noticed this product at the Fall 2011 shows when Lottie used it on the models at Libertine, and since then we've seen it perform on the runway countless times. It definitely holds up under hot lights, sweating and stress.)  To give the HD Foundation additional oomph, Lottie also used Make Up For Ever Uplight #22 and blended it into the skin.  Next, to help create a natural sunned tone, Lottie sculpted checks with Make Up For Ever Mat Bronze onto areas where the sun would naturally hit the face.  Finally Make Up For Ever Aqua Shadow #28E was blended onto temples for a strong pearly beige highlight.

Now on to the eyes: Deep drama was created with an intense smoky metallic eye. To get the look Lottie layered Make Up For Ever Aqua Shadow shade lightest to darkest blending them outward towards the temple. To create contour, she used Make Up For Ever Aqua Shadow #0E in black on the lid and then blended Make Up For Ever Eye Shadow #172 in satiny black chocolate on top of Make Up For Ever Aqua Black under the eyes.  She then added a hint of desert gold by applying Make Up For Ever Metal Powder #1 in the corner of the eyes with a small wet brush.  To frame the eye, Lottie created statement brows using a mascara wand to fluff the hairs. Finally  Lottie filled any empty space along the brow with Make Up For Ever Brow Pencil, and finished with Make Up For Ever Smoky Lash applied to upper and lower lashes.

Last but not least, to balance the bold eyes and sculpted cheeks, Lottie applied Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream #9 for a pretty pop of coral on the lips, that was soft, flattering, and didn't compete with the other strong elements in the look.
