We tried it: Bumble and Bumble Texture

For naturally curly-haired girls like myself 3/4 of the year is spent straightening. Be it smoothing shampoos, or anti-humidity sprays getting a sleek, silky style consumes my time. But, once the weather warms up, I find myself longing to let my curls run free in loose beachy waves a la Julia Roberts that are low fuss and stylish for summer.

Unfortunately those natural curls don't fall into loose beachy waves.  Instead they encircle my head in a random distribution of corkscrews and frizz making my summer hair look a lot more like  Little Orphan Annie, than beach babe.  To fight this situation, I have tried every 'curly' product on the market from drugstore deals to major investment-at-the-salon products with a variety of results. Most commonly, these 'curling' concoctions leave me with sticky clumps that appear over styled in an ugly 80's way, instead of the boho-cool look I desire.

Naturally, as the warm months are approaching, I was thrilled to try out Texture the newest offering from ubiquitous salon brand Bumble and Bumble.  Familiar with the product line, and already a fan of their Styling Lotion spray, I had high hopes for Texture, and the product did not disappoint.

Thinner, and stickier than  than products I've had success with in the past, Texture gave me a small scare when first squirted in to my palm.  But following the directions, which advised: "Work through damp hair (a must). Start with a small amount and build. Let sit a minute, then loosen and ruffle, freehand," I quickly found the product easy to use.  As promised it added separation, and 'grit' which helped make waves loose where frizz previously existed and gave extra bend to straighter strands. Additionally, I found there was really no 'building' required, a very small amount went a long way.

Best part: the hold was strong, even wind proof without being crunchy, even the next morning waves were still rocking without looking over styled; making this a must-have product for all those carefree summer style months.

At $26.00 for a 5oz. tube, Texture is certainly not the cheapest product on the market, but considering how little you use at any one time that little tube is liable to last for months, making the product still solidly in the 'good buy' category.

For more information on where to buy Texture visit the official Bumble and Bumble website, and be sure to check out their Take on Texture Sweepstakes going on now through April 26, 2011.
